ADOPTION PROCESS      (Click here to apply)

P.A.W.S. adoptable dogs are housed in foster homes and our adoptable cats are housed at the PAWS Adoption Center, 3141 West US 40, in the Schakel Center.  The PAWS Center is open to the public on Thursdays from 4:00-7:00 pm and on Sundays from 2:00-4:00 pm or by appointment.  To meet one of our pets, you can e-mail us  and we will schedule a private one-on-one meeting or you can come to one of our adoption events.   Our Matchmaker volunteers conduct adoptions from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm on the first Saturday of the month at the Tractor Supply Store, 1645 N. State Street, Greenfield, IN and on the third Saturday of the month at PetSmart, 2211 Barrett Drive, Greenfield, IN.

We use a two-step adoption process. Potential adopters must first fill out our Adoption Application form.    If an adopter is approved to adopt one of our pets, he/she must sign our Adoption Agreement.

We require 100% spay/neuter of all our adoptable cats and dogs.  No exceptions.  For pets that are too young to be spayed/neutered before they are placed in their new homes, the approved adopter becomes the new foster home and the adopter must sign an Adopter Foster Agreement.

We have a 15-day, money back guarantee on all of our adopted pets from the date the adoption is finalized.   We want to give a pet and its new family two weeks to get to know each other.   If things just aren’t working out at the end of two weeks, bring the pet back to us and we will gladly refund the entire adoption fee.

The adoption fee for each pet includes:

  • spay/neuter surgery
  • current year’s vaccinations
  • heartworm test for dogs
  • FIV & Feline Leukemia test for cats
  • Microchip
  • Deworming and flea treatment
