Janice, Snap & Crumb

When Janice first saw Snap and Crumb on the P.A.W.S. website, she thought both kittens were adorable. She scheduled a meet-and-greet at PetSmart, planning to choose a kitten. She picked Snap, but when she brought her wife along, everything changed. Her wife saw Crumb wagging his tail and asking to be petted and quickly fell in love. In the end, they decided to bring both kittens home!

The first few days weren't without challenges. Snap and Crumb hissed at each other at first, and both became a little sick. Crumb had especially bad sneezing, including some blood, and received treatment from a veterinarian arranged through P.A.W.S. With care and patience, both kittens settled into their new home.

Eight months later, Snap and Crumb have become sweet and cuddly companions. One of Janice's favorite things is coming home to find them running to greet her. They also have a hilarious habit of smelling her wife's feet and making a disgusted expression with their mouths half open!

Snap and Crumb have even traveled with their family to Florida and California. Most of all, Janice says they are wonderful stress relievers and have brought so much joy into her life.

Janice encourages others to consider adoption, noting that giving a kitten a home helps reduce the number of homeless cats in the community. While becoming a pet parent is a big responsibility, she says it has been a beautiful and deeply rewarding journey.

For Snap and Crumb, adoption didn't just give them a home—it gave them a family.

Maria and Maya

When Maya first came into Maria’s life, she was a tiny 2-month-old Shepsky named Tania, being fostered by Maria’s daughter-in-law. During a visit, Maria’s husband, who was recovering from a stroke, held the puppy, and Tania quickly fell asleep in his arms. When it was time for her to leave, he asked, “Why are you taking her away from me? I want her to stay.” Maria soon learned she was available for adoption and knew Maya belonged with their family.

Now 10 months old, Maya is playful, affectionate, and full of personality. She loves long walks, car rides, meeting new people, and playing with the family’s three dogs and cats. She has learned lots of tricks and even has a funny way of asking for food—resting her chin on Maria’s lap and making a soft little sound until she gets a taste. Her favorite treat? Vanilla ice cream!

Maria and her family spent time teaching Maya commands and establishing a daily routine, and their patience has paid off. Maya is happy, well-adjusted, and deeply loved.

Maria says Maya has brought her love, joy, and a new sense of purpose. For Maya, adoption meant finding the family she was meant to have—and a place to call home.

Christina, Penny & Kinley

Sometimes, the sweetest additions to a family come with four paws and a purr!

Christina first spotted Penny and Kinley online and knew she wanted to meet them. The following week, she visited a PetSmart adoption event hosted by P.A.W.S. Hancock, and it didn’t take long for her to fall for the two sweet girls. The rest, as they say, is history!

Now two years old, Penny and Kinley have been part of Christina’s family for just over a

year. Although they were a little timid when they first arrived home, they quickly settled in. These days, they have no trouble showing their love, happily sitting on their family and climbing all over them for affection!

Penny and Kinley joined Christina’s home just a few months after the loss of her grandmother, arriving at a time when their love and companionship were especially meaningful. The girls have been a wonderful addition to the family and have made a positive difference in Christina’s mental well-being. It turns out these two sweet kitties were just the perfect fit!

Emma & Doc

When Emma and her husband were browsing Petfinder, one little guy caught their eye. His name was Laser, and he was wearing the cutest little bow tie! They knew they had to meet him, so they drove two hours to a P.A.W.S. adoption event at PetSmart. When they met him in person, his sweet, cuddly personality sealed the deal, and he went home with them that very day!

Now known as Doc, this lovable pup has spent almost a year and a half filling their home with joy. When he first arrived, he was quiet, loved his toys, and simply wanted to be near his people. Since then, his personality has really blossomed! He can be a little crazy at times, but he still enjoys his favorite toys and plenty of naps.

Doc has some adorable quirks, too. His front feet turn outward, which his family thinks is just precious. He also loves shredded cheese and ice cubes, and he knows the sound of a cheese bag opening. Of course, that can lead to some serious disappointment when the bag turns out to contain shredded lettuce instead! Doc is also best friends with Emma's dad's dog, and the two love playing together.

One of Emma's favorite memories is taking Doc to visit his grandparents, where he got to

run freely in a fenced-in backyard for the first time. He played so hard that he eventually wore himself out and fell asleep!

For Emma and her husband, Doc has brought so much more than companionship. He has filled their home with happiness and given them the joy of loving a little soul who gives that love right back. As Emma shares, she is grateful that they get to love Doc and be loved by him.
