For the past year and a half, Barbara Anderson has been a dedicated and valued part of the P.A.W.S. Hancock family, bringing her deep love for animals into everything she does. Inspired simply by that love, Barbara began volunteering and has been making a meaningful difference ever since.
At home, Barbara has cats of her own, continuing a lifelong connection to animals that naturally led her to rescue work. At P.A.W.S., you’ll most often find her helping at the P.A.W.S. Store on Thursdays and Saturdays, assisting with animal transports for spay and neuter appointments, and volunteering at special events like the Designer Purse Bingo. No matter the task, she approaches it with enthusiasm and heart.
While Barbara is passionate about every aspect of the rescue, one experience that stands out is the support she received when her own pet, Ace, was sick—a powerful reminder of the compassion and care that defines the organization. That same sense of teamwork is what keeps her coming back. She especially values “the wonderful team” she works with.
Even on tough days, Barbara stays grounded in her faith, which helps her remain positive and motivated. Though she once dreamed of becoming a vet tech, she has found her own meaningful way to make an impact—proving that dedication and kindness are what truly matter in rescue work.
Looking ahead, Barbara hopes to see P.A.W.S. continue to grow through its strong team and incredible volunteers, expanding its positive impact in the community. Above all, she is grateful—thankful for the opportunity to help wherever she can, thankful for the animals, and thankful for the team, especially Mona for providing such great training.
Barbara, thank you for everything you do for P.A.W.S. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. We are grateful for your dedication to the animals that come through our doors.
