A Mother-Daughter Duo Making a Difference

At P.A.W.S. Hancock, volunteers are the heart of our mission—and we’re thrilled to shine this month’s spotlight on the incredible mother-daughter team of Rachel and Paisley Tipton!
Rachel and Paisley have been volunteering with P.A.W.S. for about eight months, and their story is one of compassion, teamwork, and a shared love for animals. Their journey began with Paisley's deep affection for cats—a love made more complicated by the fact that both of her parents and brother are allergic. Volunteering at P.A.W.S. gave Paisley a chance to connect with cats in a meaningful way, and it gave Rachel an opportunity to support her daughter in doing something she loves.
Together, they’ve taken on two important roles: cleaning at PetSmart and fostering dogs. Fostering, especially, has become a passion. Rachel shared how rewarding it is to help puppies along their journey to finding forever homes. Paisley especially enjoys snuggling up with puppies at adoption events—a heart-melting sight for anyone who has seen her in action!
Of course, with fostering comes one of the biggest challenges: resisting the temptation to become a “foster fail.” (We know that feeling all too well!) But Rachel says keeping a short-term mindset helps them stay focused on the goal—giving each animal the love and care they need before finding their permanent family.
The Tiptons have a full house of their own, with two golden retrievers, a hamster, and a tank full of colorful fish. Their experience at P.A.W.S. has only deepened their appreciation for rescue work and the positive impact it has on both animals and humans.
When asked what advice they’d give to others thinking about volunteering, their answer was simple and heartfelt: “If you're able to do it—do it!”
Rachel and Paisley, thank you for bringing your joy, energy, and kindness to P.A.W.S. Your dedication is an inspiration to us all!
