Finding Her Fizz Again: Cola's Glow-Up Story

When P.A.W.S. received a call for help from Muncie Animal Care and Services, we knew we had to step in.
On March 21, 2026, we welcomed a tiny torbie mama named Cola into our rescue. Just four days earlier, on March 17th, she had given birth to a litter of newborn kittens. While she was doing her best to care for her babies, it was clear that Cola desperately needed help herself.

At first glance, Cola was painfully thin. Despite having just given birth and needing extra nutrition to care for her kittens, she struggled to keep weight on. The reason soon became apparent—every single one of her teeth was severely damaged by Feline Oral Resorptive Lesions (FORLs), a painful condition that causes teeth to deteriorate and be reabsorbed by the body.
Imagine trying to eat every meal with constant tooth pain. That was Cola's reality.
Yet through it all, Cola never stopped being sweet. From the moment she arrived, she showed us what a loving and affectionate cat she is. She greeted her caregivers with purrs, enjoyed attention, and remained devoted to her kittens despite the discomfort she was living with every day.
Since coming into our care, Cola has undergone quite the transformation. She has been spayed, received the veterinary care she needed, and had her damaged teeth removed. While she is now enjoying a soft-food diet due to only having three teeth left, she can finally eat comfortably and without pain for the first time in a long time.
The difference has been remarkable. Cola has gained weight, looks healthier, and seems so
much happier now that she isn't living with chronic oral pain. Her beautiful torbie coloring shines, and her sweet personality has blossomed even more.

And what about those tiny kittens she arrived with? They have all found loving forever homes! Starry, Squirt, RC, and Crush were just days old when they entered our program alongside their devoted mama. Watching them grow from fragile newborns into playful, healthy kittens—and then head off to begin their new lives with families of their own—has been one of the most rewarding parts of Cola's journey.
Now it's Cola's turn.
After everything she's overcome, this sweet and resilient mama cat is ready to find a family that will love her just as fiercely as she loved her kittens. She's spent months caring for her babies, healing from years of neglect, and learning that people can be kind. Now she deserves a home where she can finally be the one receiving all the love, comfort, and care.
We are so grateful that Muncie Animal Care & Services reached out for rescue assistance and that we were able to give Cola the second chance she needed. Her journey is a beautiful reminder of why rescue matters: sometimes a little help, a lot of love, and the right medical care can completely transform a life.
Today, Cola is healthier, happier, and finally free from the constant pain she endured for so long. She came to us as a struggling young mother in desperate need of help. Her kittens are now thriving in their forever homes, and all that's missing from Cola's happy ending is a forever family to call her own. Could that be you?
