Volunteer Spotlight: Tricia Corder

Since 2018, Tricia Corder has been sharing her time and talents with P.A.W.S. Hancock, bringing the personalities of countless animals to life through her photography. She first got involved as a Girl Scout leader, arranging a troop visit to spend time with the kittens. What started as a fun outing quickly turned into a lasting commitment, as Tricia and her daughter began volunteering together as “kitty cuddlers” and cleaners. Before long, Tricia picked up her camera and found her niche—capturing photos of adoptable animals for the website, social media, and special events like Photos with the Easter Bunny and Photos with Santa.

A lifelong animal lover, Tricia says the P.A.W.S. mission truly speaks to her heart. At home, she has a cat named Link—adopted from P.A.W.S. in 2017—and a black lab/border collie mix named Bowie, both of whom are her favorite photography subjects. Still, she enjoys photographing all kinds of animals, from cuddly cats and dogs to more unexpected creatures like lizards, snakes, and turtles.

What Tricia loves most about photographing animals is capturing their unique personalities. Her approach is all about patience—giving animals time to relax, keeping their favorite person nearby, and snapping multiple shots to get that perfect moment. She’s also learned a few tricks along the way, like using a squeaky toy to grab their attention and minimizing distractions for the best results. Of course, not every session goes exactly as planned—she’s had plenty of curious kitties “boop” her camera lens!

Through her work, Tricia has seen her photos shared widely, helping spread the word about animals in need of homes. While she may not always see the direct impact, she knows those images play an important role in connecting pets with their future families.

Volunteering has only deepened Tricia’s love for animals, and she encourages others to get involved. She describes P.A.W.S. as a fun, welcoming place filled with caring people and says, "It will make your heart happy to know you are helping animals who need you."

In addition to her volunteer work, Tricia is the talent behind Iris Pop Photography, where she brings the same passion and skill to capturing special moments for others. Her dedication, creativity, and love for animals make her an invaluable part of the P.A.W.S. family.

Thank you, Tricia, for all the time, talent, and heart you give to P.A.W.S.—we are so grateful for everything you do to support our mission!
